Understand there are three judges for each age group so I was reading with two other judges reading as well. We did nit communicate. In fact we did not know each others identity.
Here are the High School winners:
Third Place: A Shadow by Arya Ganesan
Second Place: Home of the Wild by Olivia Seidmeyer
First Place: The Ghoul of Maple Hill by Benjamin Andrew Fouche
Wow, my order too. Congratulations everybody and great job to all.

What I am not reporting on.....
will be the Saugus Adult winners since I was not involved there. Good luck to those winners when announced as well. I know I felt a thrill as I waited on my two entries and I felt on top of the world when I found out. I can feel your anticipation. Go get 'em guys.
Saugus Winners for Middle School stories

Second Place: Them by Jason Gale
First Place: Gateway to Oblivion by P. Malone

Saugus Winners for Elementary School
Third Place: My Ghost Friend, Samantha by Felicia Alexander
Second Place: The Secret Basement by Madison Lopez
First Place: Camari and her Dolls by Michelle Fang
Michelle is ten years old and this story is creepy. I found it to be one of the best of the entire contest in its conception and execution.
Congratulations to all the winners and all participants.
The Elementary submissions were of a higher caliber this year so the future of literature looks bright.
By the way these three were in my top 4 picks with Camari being first.
Congrats again guys and keep writing.

Flu kept me from posting earlier but the winners are out. It was blast judging this year and I have signed on for next year. Congrats to the winners and to those who fell short --- don't be upset --- keep writing and prove everyone wrong the ability is within you. Read, write and hone your talent; write with a swagger and the Hell with those who stand in your way.

Saugus Ghost Story Contest II
High School stories are now read and ranked. I will be notifying the home office with our votes and now the wait for Halloween.
I have to say; there is a lot of talent and creativity coming from our young people. It is a blessing to see and an honor and privilege to be on this side of the contest.

Saugus Ghost Story Contest
The pressures of being a judge seem to be just as great as being a participant. However the pressure here is weighing some marvelous tales. We just finished our scoring for the Middle School submissions and those results have been sent in.
Now it is on to the High School entries....

Saugus.Net Ghost Story Contest A Thank You
Just received my prize for this year's story THE DEATH KNELL. First I love the glow in the dark shirt. But second, I think the mug with The Grim Reaper, their symbol for the contest, memorializing my winning stories for the last two years is simply outstanding. Thank you so very much. I enjoyed writing and submitting these stories: A VISIT and THE DEATH KNELL and I look forward being a judge in 2013. Thank you.
